Sekura.id is proud to unveil its partnership with Times Internet, a leading figure in India’s tech landscape and the digital wing of The Times Group, the nation’s most extensive media conglomerate. This collaboration is set to equip Times Internet with the capability to offer an advanced, passwordless mobile identity verification service, enriching its solutions for India’s elite enterprises.

At the heart of this partnership is SAFr Auth, an innovative, passwordless, and secure approach to authenticate users seamlessly without the need for manual intervention or multi-factor authentication. Sekura.id’s technology enables user authentication directly via their mobile phone, bypassing the need for 2FA or SMS OTP, thereby providing a secure, quick, and effortless authentication experience.

Statista’s 2022 report highlighted India as the leading country in identity theft incidents globally, with an estimated 27.2 million adults affected. This figure significantly surpasses the United States, which saw about 13.5 million individuals suffering from identity theft during the same year.

Per Experian’s 2022 Global Identity and Fraud Report, over half of the Indian participants reported facing fraud on various platforms, including social media sites (38%), payment services (30%), and online gaming sites (30%).

Sekura.id also plays a pivotal role in processing transactions for leading tier-1 banks in the UK, international banking institutions, global fintech, and various sectors, identifying a 5-7% rate of recent SIM swaps and/or call forwarding incidents.

Gautam Hazari, CTO of Sekura.id, shared his enthusiasm, “We are delighted to partner with Times Mobile in Times Internet, one of India’s most respected companies. This partnership will enable the delivery of innovative solutions like SAFr Auth to protect the digital life of Indian consumers in the most inclusive way using the superpower of the SIM.”

He further elaborated, “In this challenging time of Generative AI-driven deepfakes, this partnership allows Times Internet and Sekura.id to deliver better conversion for businesses by reducing friction and enhancing security through the market-leading platform, SAFr as well as innovative products and services, which have touched 2.5 billion humans worldwide for the last three years.”

Nitin Chowdhary, Vice President and Business Head of Times Mobile, commented, “User identity authentication is a critical use case for verticals such as banking, e-commerce and digital payments. Some media reports indicate at least ₹300 Crore of financial loss due to identity theft in FY23 alone. The recent press release from Reserve Bank of India highlights the need for more authentication solutions than SMS-OTP to address some of the concerns. Times Mobile is very happy to bring Sekura.id’s solutions to India to address these issues.”

By harnessing the strengths of both Sekura.id and Times Internet, this partnership aims to bring forth groundbreaking, unique mobile identity solutions to millions of Indian consumers, thereby ensuring enhanced authentication experiences, effective fraud prevention, and superior customer offerings.
