Many hotels are jumping on board with a range of plastic-free campaigns to cut permanent costs like daily refills, single-use plastic bottles, coffee cups and straws, including prime hoteliers like The Hilton whose goal is to cut their environmental impact in half by 2030, 1hotels “switch-out no plastic” campaign or ‘Stay Plastic Free’ initiative via Edition Hotels to name a few.

A finalist in The Eco Award category, Abode Swich Wood celebrates 15 years since the launch of Swich®, with a special wood edition, crafted entirely from FSC® Certified Beechwood timber. Able to transform a new or existing mixer into a filtered water tap, Swich® delivers a fresh supply of crystal clear, filtered water in the kitchen, utility, bedroom and bathroom for the height of convenient luxury. The Swich® Wood anniversary edition is defined by its sustainable beech construction with rough-sawn edges, fine woodgrain surface and contemporary black lettering.

More than just a discreet and dynamic water solution, Swich® Wood is fully aligned with the three R’s that currently define today’s eco-conscious lifestyle as it Reduces single use plastic, Reuses sustainable materials and Recycles redundant high resin filters via the Filter Recycle Scheme unique to Abode. Simply turn the knob to divert the water from the domestic supply to fresh filtered cold water, which is free from chemicals and offers a better overall taste, appearance, and quality of drinking water.

Paul Illingworth, Design Manager at Abode says, “As the wellness sector continues to evolve, we want to ensure end-users can enjoy the benefits of filtered water on tap for drinking, hand washing and grooming. Enhancing individual health and wellbeing, as well as the environment by reducing single use plastic, making the Swich means that hoteliers and guests alike can feel good about being part of the solution to plastic pollution as one filter provides the equivalent of 8000 1L single use plastic bottles of water.”

Improving the overall taste, appearance, and quality of drinking water without needing to compromise on style, Swich® offers two filter options featuring activated carbon to reduce impurities – (1) Classic Filter with a maximum flow rate of 2-3 litres per minute, ideal for soft to moderate water types, and (2) High Resin Filter with Ion exchange water treatment system, which is best suited to hard water areas and part of the Filter Recycle Scheme by Abode.
