Political strategist Alberto Lage and psychologist Iracema Rezende set out to understand the psychological demands placed on candidates during campaigns — and to draw out lessons that apply to leaders and decision-makers in many other fields.
“Inside the Candidate’s Head: The Psychology of Running for Office – Lessons from Brazil’s Campaign Trenches” is now available to English-speaking readers around the world. The book topped Amazon Brazil’s bestseller rankings after its Portuguese release, and a Spanish edition carried it across Latin America and Spain.
The authors first published the book as “Cabeça de Candidato” in Portuguese in September 2025. It reached the top of Amazon Brazil’s charts in Elections, Politics, and Social Sciences. The English edition is now on sale in Kindle, paperback, and hardcover through Amazon and the official website at insidethecandidateshead.com.
The Spanish edition, “Cabeza de Candidato: Dentro de la mente del poder | Lecciones de campañas en Brasil”, was translated by Marcus Vinicius Baldo, co-founder of Compol Brasil. Political scientist Felipe Nunes wrote the preface for the Brazilian edition. Paulo Carlos López-López, Professor of Political Science at the University of Santiago de Compostela and spokesperson for Sumar Galicia, part of Spain’s governing coalition, provided the foreword for the translated editions.
