From 95th to 39th in just six years, Khalifa Port’s impressive ascent showcases world-class growth and operational excellence, strengthening Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global trade hub.
AD Ports Group (ADX: ADPORTS), a global leader in trade, logistics, and industrial services, has announced that Khalifa Port has risen to 39th place in the prestigious Lloyd’s List Top 100 Ports ranking for 2025 — marking another milestone in its steady climb among the world’s foremost container ports.
Since debuting in the ranking in 2019 at position 95, Khalifa Port has recorded remarkable progress, powered by strategic infrastructure expansion, digital transformation, and continuous improvements in operational efficiency. The latest ranking reinforces the port’s significance as a global logistics gateway and reflects Abu Dhabi’s growing prominence in international commerce.
Lloyd’s List, regarded as an authoritative benchmark within the maritime industry, assesses the world’s ports based on container throughput and performance standards. Khalifa Port’s steady rise demonstrates its evolution into a technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable, and highly interconnected maritime hub, supported by robust throughput growth, ongoing investment, and an expanding network of global shipping alliances.
Functioning as a fully integrated logistics gateway, Khalifa Port connects sea, land, rail, and air transport networks, driving greater resilience and efficiency across global supply chains. Its close link with KEZAD Group — the UAE’s largest integrated trade and industrial hub — strengthens this ecosystem by seamlessly connecting manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution directly to the port’s global shipping routes.
Over the past several years, Khalifa Port has maintained strong year-on-year performance, supported by capacity expansion, the introduction of new shipping routes, and the adoption of advanced cargo-handling and digital solutions. As of the second quarter of 2025, AD Ports Group’s total container capacity stood at 11.8 million TEUs, with Khalifa Port contributing 9.6 million. During the first half of 2025, container throughput increased by 21% year-on-year to reach 3.62 million TEUs, with 85% of that volume handled at Khalifa Port.
Saif Al Mazrouei, Chief Executive Officer, Ports Cluster – AD Ports Group, commented: “Khalifa Port’s steady climb in the Lloyd’s List Top 100 Ports ranking exemplifies our long-term vision and commitment to operational excellence. It stands as a testament to the dedication of our teams, the trust of our global partners, and the success of our integrated strategy to reinforce Khalifa Port’s position as a world-class hub for trade and logistics”.
Khalifa Port distinguishes itself as the only port in the Gulf region, hosting container terminals operated by three of the world’s top five largest shipping and logistics companies – COSCO Shipping Ports (CSP), CMA CGM, and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC). These strategic partnerships provide unmatched capacity and connectivity, enabling direct access to major global markets and delivering competitive advantages for importers, exporters, and consumers.
Through continuous investment and strategic partnerships, AD Ports Group continues to strengthen Khalifa Port’s role in advancing Abu Dhabi’s economic diversification and reinforcing its position as a leading global centre for trade, logistics, and industry.
