The BS IET Wiring Regulations 18th Edition, with codes AG2-AG3, recommend the application of reinforced protection in areas susceptible to medium or high impacts. The IET Code of Practice for EV Charging Equipment Installation necessitates that publicly accessible charging equipment be fortified to withstand impacts of at least AG2 severity, as stated in BS76741 (18th Edition). Charge-M8 suggests employing sturdy tyre stops as an initial defence mechanism, with impact barriers as a secondary line of protection for instances where tyre stops are not observed or when a vehicle’s overhang goes beyond their protective range.
