Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond has been crowned the nation’s ultimate karaoke tune, following new nationwide research into Brits’ favourite sing-along songs.

The survey, by Butlin’s, saw Queen’s We Will Rock You and Dancing Queen by ABBA round off the top three.

Freddie Mercury is the nation’s number one live musical performer of all time, according to the research, while ABBA is the nation’s ultimate artist to sing while performing karaoke.

THE UK’S TOP 5 KARAOKE SONGS

  1. Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond
  2. We Will Rock You by Queen
  3. Dancing Queen by ABBA
  4. Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen
  5. Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey

What’s more, nearly half of UK adults (46%) belt out their favourite karaoke hits at least once a month, while 47% say that singing out loud makes them feel good and boosts their mood

The research was commissioned by Butlin’s to celebrate the start of the new ‘The Masked Singer’ live shows, which will be coming to its Skegness, Bognor Regis and Minehead resorts this half term.

Each of the shows will be hosted by a celebrity presenter, and like the renowned TV show, the best bit will be saved until the end when two celebrity performers are unmasked.

Mike Godolphin, Entertainment Director at Butlin’s, said: “Our new research has confirmed what we suspected all along; Brits love a sing-along and we can’t wait to see the audience belting out their favourite tunes whilst watching The Masked Singer live.”

Butlin’s is launching a competition giving one lucky family the ultimate VIP The Masked Singer experience at a Butlin’s resort of their choice.

Applications will run until February 27th. To enter, head to: www.butlins.com/competitions
