The Road to Home: A Homebuyer’s Guide to Success

A Homebuyer’s Guide to Success

Many people dream of the day when they can buy a home. Going about finding that home and successfully closing on one can be a whole other story. If you’re someone who is looking for the best possible outcome in your homebuying process, consider these tips below to help you make the best decisions:

Carefully choose your loan

The loan you choose will have an impact on your life long-term, so as you set about to buy a home, you will want to be careful about the type of loan you agree to. Whether you choose VA loan rates because that’s the best option for you or you look into DSCR loans because that’s more aligned with your goals, the loan and rates you choose will impact you more than you know. Take your time researching as much as possible so that you can be confident in whatever you decide to commit to.

Don’t skip inspections

As a future homeowner, you want to be careful with the home that you buy. The last thing you need when committing to a large purchase like a house is to commit to one that has hidden problems, from poor foundations to poor electrical systems. A standard inspection may be an option, but that may not be the option that you want if you want to buy a home without expensive problems to fix. Go deep with your research so that you can be confident that you’re buying a home that is worth your money.

Work with a realtor you can trust

One of the best ways to find the home you want is to work with a realtor who has experience and is a reliable expert on where to find great houses. Research reviews and ask your circle about the people who helped them buy their homes. A top realtor can make a difference in helping you find the best house possible.

As with many things, you’ll want to work with someone that you have a good rapport with, as connection and understanding can help you be the dream team in finding the perfect home. Be careful about asking for too many options. What this can do is overwhelm you as you search for your home. It can easily discourage you in your search and make you give up too soon.

Buy a home you can afford

It can be tempting to purchase a home that is perfect in almost every way and the most ideal location, but just a bit out of your house-buying budget. While you may think that you can “make it work” if you just cut back here or there, there’s a reason why many people warn of the woes of being house-poor. It’s not fun. And it isn’t a smart financial decision. Make sure that the house you buy is one that you can comfortably afford and that still allows you to have the quality of life that you want.

Plan ahead

One of the biggest things that you’ll want to consider when considering a home purchase is the financial impact it can have on your life. Additionally, you’ll need to have your eggs lined up to be able to buy a home.

As you start thinking about homebuying, you’ll want to save for the downpayment, clean up your credit, and also make sure you’re working in a career that allows for the kind of appealing income proof that most mortgage lenders are looking for. There’s a lot of financial planning involved in buying a home, so if you want to get ready, start your planning today.

In Conclusion

Buying a home is a big deal. It’s possibly one of the biggest decisions you’ll make in your life. Set yourself up for success by paying attention to these tips above. You can find the house you want with a little planning and research.

Scientific Director of the Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science Receives the American Cancer Society’s 2024 Medal of Honor

Scientific Director of the Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science Receives the American Cancer Society’s 2024 Medal of Honor

On January 6, 2024, the American Cancer Society awarded its highest accolade, the 2024 Medal of Honor, to Dr. Pasi A. Jänne, a renowned figure at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Jänne is the Scientific Director of the Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science.

Jänne receiving the 2024 Medal of Honor highlights his remarkable work in cancer research, especially in advancing lung cancer treatments. The Medal of Honor Ceremony, held in Washington, D.C., also shined a light on the ongoing efforts in the fight against cancer.

“He and his colleagues at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have changed the face of personalized care in lung cancer, and we’re very proud at ACS to have been the first external funder of his work as a junior investigator,” Arif Kamal, the American Cancer Society’s Chief Patient Officer, stated in a LinkedIn post.

This award, initiated in 1949 and originally known as the American Cancer Society Award, recognizes outstanding contributions to the fight against cancer, including advancements in basic research, cancer control, clinical research, and philanthropy.

Dr. Pasi Jänne’s Notable Contributions

Jänne, a professor at Harvard Medical School and the director of the Lowe Center for Thoracic Oncology, has significantly impacted lung cancer treatment through his pioneering research. He played a pivotal role in discovering epidermal growth factor receptor mutations, fundamentally changing therapeutic approaches for patients with EGFR-mutant lung cancer.

His innovative work extends beyond research. Jänne is lauded for his visionary thinking, collaborative approach, and exceptional leadership in oncology. His dedication to developing precise and enduring therapies for lung cancer patients and his role as a mentor in the scientific community are particularly noteworthy, including his work with the Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science.

Jänne’s medical journey began at the University of Pennsylvania, where he received his medical degree and doctorate in 1996. He completed his postgraduate training in internal medicine at Boston’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital and in medical oncology at Dana-Farber in 2001.

The Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science: A Historical Perspective

The Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is an asset in oncology research. Established through the generous contributions of Robert and Renée Belfer, the center aims to translate cutting-edge scientific discoveries into more effective cancer treatments.

The foundation of the Belfer Center was a landmark moment in the history of Dana-Farber. An initial investment of $10 million in 2006 by the Belfers enabled the Center to integrate scientific teams, produce innovative cancer models, and partner with leading industry entities. This strategic collaboration has been instrumental in accelerating revolutionary therapies for cancer treatment.

A focal point of the Belfer Center is its commitment to immuno-oncology, a field that harnesses the body’s immune system to fight cancer. An additional gift from the Belfers in 2015, amounting to more than $35 million in total contributions, has propelled research in this area, particularly in predicting responses to cancer immunotherapy and improving patient outcomes. This funding supports the development of patient-derived organotypic spheroids, also known as “tumor-on-a-chip,” and Dana-Farber’s mass spectrometry technology for the detection of neoantigen peptides, small proteins found only on tumor cells.

The center’s mission is bolstered by its collaboration with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, aiming to bring basic and preclinical scientific breakthroughs to market. Its focus areas include immuno-oncology, drug resistance, novel target discovery, and blood-based biomarkers.

The leadership team, consisting of scientific co-directors Jänne and David Barbie, M.D., along with Cloud Paweletz, Ph.D., head of research, plays a pivotal role. Their collective expertise in academic and industry research, development, and collaboration underscores the Center’s commitment to transforming cancer biology and treatment insights into new advancements.

The Belfer Center’s integration within the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and its affiliation with Harvard Medical School enables a comprehensive approach to cancer research, encompassing academic and industrial research components to drive clinical trials and improve patient care.

Search for a Cure

According to a report from the National Cancer Institute, in 2023, roughly 2 million people in the United States will be diagnosed with cancer. Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosis.

The American Cancer Society has been at the forefront of the battle against cancer for over a century. As a leader in the space, it focuses on advocacy, research, and patient support, aiming to eradicate cancer. It provides a 24/7 helpline and maintains a strong presence on social media platforms, ensuring widespread access to information and support.

The ACS, founded in 1913, has evolved substantially. Initially known as the American Society for the Control of Cancer, its primary mission was to raise public awareness about cancer, a disease shrouded in fear and denial at the time. Recognizing the need for widespread education, the ASCC’s founders published articles in magazines and journals and engaged doctors nationwide in public education efforts.

In 1936, the organization witnessed a pivotal moment in forming the Women’s Field Army, a volunteer force dedicated to cancer control. This initiative fundamentally expanded the society’s reach and impact. By the 1940s, it became evident that a shift in focus to research was essential. Influential philanthropists like Mary Lasker played a key role in this transition, leading to the ASCC’s reorganization into the American Cancer Society in 1945. That year, the ACS raised more than $4 million, a notable portion of which was allocated to research.

Since its inception, the ACS has invested over $5 billion in research, contributing to many cancer treatment and prevention breakthroughs, such as developing the first successful chemotherapy treatment and significant advancements in understanding the links between lifestyle factors like smoking and cancer risk.

The ACS also provides critical assistance to cancer patients and their families. For example, the Reach to Recovery program, initiated in 1969, connects breast cancer patients with survivors for support. Another crucial initiative is the Hope Lodge facilities, offering free lodging to those undergoing treatment.

In addition to patient support, the ACS focuses on health equity, recognizing the importance of addressing disparities in cancer outcomes among communities. Programs like Impact aim to reduce the prostate cancer disparity gap in black men, and Road to Recovery provides transportation for patients needing a ride to treatment.

Additionally, the ACS engages in advocacy and community mobilization efforts. Its role in the passage of the 1971 National Cancer Act, which significantly increased federal funding for cancer research, and the establishment of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network in 2001 highlights its dedication to shaping governmental policies aimed at cancer prevention and treatment.

New Year, New You: Rangeford Villages’ Wellness Activities to Help Combat Loneliness

New Year, New You: Rangeford Villages’ Wellness Activities to Help Combat Loneliness

January 2023: With the New Year welcoming in opportunities for resolutions and tackling new health goals, Rangeford Villages, the award-winning UK retirement developer, has set out activities and events for residents in all its villages – from Wadswick Green in Wiltshire to Siddington Park in Cirencester – to achieve their goals.

Recent studies have found that physical and mental well-being is closely related to individual and community health, flourishing, and prosperity, as 2023 Government studies have found that community activities promote social interaction and enable people to connect meaningfully with others.

In addition to this, a 2023 study conducted for retirement village specialist Rangeford Villages by Censuswide of UK retirees aged between 65 to 80 shows that there are specific factors to their health and wellbeing that this age group values the most. When asked if the benefits of ageing have enhanced their ability to focus on personal health and wellness, those in the South West (38.12%) ranked the highest. Participants aged 65 – 80 living in Plymouth (34.85%) ranked second while those in Bristol ranked third, at 35.48%.
Meanwhile, when rating their current happiness, participants in Brighton value wisdom and life experience more (at 63.33%) than 65 – 80-year-olds in Birmingham (at 45.60%).

Following on from the results of the findings, Rangeford Villages across the country have reviewed the activities and events they host for their residents at their respective Pavillions, which act as the main social hub, aimed at combatting loneliness and helping them achieve their New Year goals. Several of Rangeford’s villages have a tranquil indoor swimming pool, where, for example, Siddington Park houses a well-being spa with a hydro pool, targeted towards achieving therapeutic and health benefits. Other amenities of the Pavilion in each village include a spa, hair and beauty salon, as well as a restaurant.

This comes as GoCompare reveals the top 10 New Year resolutions for 2024, with ‘getting fit and doing more exercise’ ranking in the top three.

In the Siddington Park retirement village in Cirencester, the village’s dedication to its residents’ mental and physical health is underscored by a range of weekly wellness programs that residents can enjoy throughout the year. Throughout January and onwards, wellness-wise, the village is running a variety of classes including Balance, resistance band training, chair fitness, chair yoga, conditioning, walking group and ballroom basics. They also have a foot health practitioner visit the site for appointments in residents’ homes. Further to this, they have also had a nutritionist conduct a talk on ‘Nutrition for healthy ageing’ and are planning a ‘benefits of cold-pressed juices’ talk and sample towards the end of January.

Meanwhile, at Wadswick Green in Wiltshire, residents can partake in a range of fitness classes at the Pavilion including low-impact aerobics, seated Pilates, water aerobics, group walking and yoga, as well as programmes to boost their creativity such as watercolour classes, knitting groups, photography classes and reading groups.

While at Mickle Hill in Yorkshire, some of the activities the village has planned for the residents related to wellness are choir practices and fortnightly exercise classes with an external mentor.

Mickle Hill resident John Telford has spoken out about how these events have aided and boosted his mental health and wellbeing, as he reveals he attends the exercise classes fortnightly.

He says: “I enjoy going because I am a double amputee, so it helps me with returning to some form of normality. The exercises that Wendy does are very good and helpful, and a lot of residents attend. We take part in several activities including rubber ball stretching and using the stability ball as well.

“I’ve been going to the exercise classes for about two years since we moved here. At first, we were a bit nervous about going when we started, but after a while, the classes became so much easier and we enjoyed attending them.

“We’ve also made friends with all residents who go to the classes, as well as those who don’t go. Overall, keeping fit and exercising has helped my mental health and wellbeing, it’s helped me a lot.”

In adding what his New Year’s resolution is, John said that for this year, his goal is to “become more active and partake in more of the wellness activities on offer at the village”.

Commenting on why these activities are important for the residents, the Head of Marketing at Rangeford Villages, Amanda Valentine-Bunce said: “With the New Year in full swing at Rangeford Villages, health and wellbeing take centre stage. It is often the case that each year resolutions revolve around self-improvement, and so across all the villages we welcome an active and engaged lifestyle. We encourage our residents to take advantage of the various amenities and activities available, whether it’s joining a fitness class, participating in group outings, or exploring a new hobby.

“Health is such a crucial aspect of independence, and so working together with our residents to aid their New Year’s resolutions presents an opportunity for growth and improvement of the village as a whole.

“Over the years, we have developed wellness and fitness programmes across all our Pavilion to suit the needs of our residents, and they have been specifically designed to enhance physical and mental well-being. They also reflect Rangeford Villages’ mission to create aspirational retirement communities and enable our residents to live their lives independently and with purpose and fulfilment.”

Revolutionizing Truck Performance: The New Era of Efficiency

Revolutionizing Truck Performance: The New Era of Efficiency

In the fast-paced world of trucking, every detail counts. From the roar of the engine to the sleek design of the chassis, truck enthusiasts and professionals alike understand the importance of each component. But there’s one part that’s recently been stealing the spotlight, promising to redefine power and efficiency in big rigs. This is not just about speed or power; it’s about revolutionizing the entire driving experience.

The Heart of the Truck: Understanding Turbos

The turbocharger is the heart of the truck, a critical component that breathes life into the engine. But what exactly is a turbocharger? Simply put, it transforms wasted energy from the exhaust into extra power for the engine. It’s like giving your truck a shot of adrenaline, providing more power without increasing the engine size.

The Mechanism Behind the Power

At its core, a turbocharger consists of two main parts: the turbine and the compressor. The turbine captures exhaust gases, using their energy to spin the compressor. This compressor then pushes more air into the engine, allowing it to burn fuel more efficiently and produce more power. It’s a cycle of energy recycling that results in a significant boost in performance.

Why Upgrade to a Bully Dog Turbo?

When it comes to choosing a turbocharger, it’s not just about picking any component; it’s about selecting a heart for your truck that promises reliability, power, and efficiency. This is where the Bully Dog Turbo stands out, offering a suite of benefits that cater to the needs of every truck enthusiast.

Enhanced Performance

First and foremost, upgrading to a Bully Dog Turbo means an immediate boost in your truck’s performance. You’ll notice the difference the moment you hit the throttle – a smoother, more responsive acceleration, and a noticeable increase in horsepower.

Increased Fuel Efficiency

It’s not just about power; it’s also about efficiency. With rising fuel prices, efficiency is more important than ever. The Bully Dog Turbo optimizes the combustion process, ensuring that every drop of fuel is used effectively, leading to significant savings at the pump.

Reduced Emissions

In an era where environmental consciousness is paramount, reducing emissions is not just beneficial for the planet – it’s often a legal requirement. The increased efficiency from a Bully Dog Turbo also means cleaner combustion, resulting in lower emissions.

Making the Right Choice: Factors to Consider

Before you decide to upgrade your turbocharger, it’s essential to consider a few key factors:

  • Compatibility: Ensure that the turbocharger you choose is compatible with your truck model and engine.
  • Purpose: Are you looking for more power, better fuel efficiency, or both? Understanding your primary need will guide your choice.
  • Budget: While an upgrade is an investment, it’s crucial to consider your budget and the long-term benefits of the upgrade.

Installation and Maintenance

Proper installation and maintenance are crucial once you’ve chosen the perfect turbocharger. It’s recommended to have a professional install the turbocharger to ensure it’s done correctly. Regular maintenance checks are also vital to keep your turbocharger in top condition and prevent potential issues.

Conclusion: Embracing the Future

In the dynamic world of trucking, staying ahead means embracing innovation. The Bully Dog Turbo represents a step into the future, offering a blend of power, efficiency, and sustainability that’s hard to beat. It’s not just an upgrade; it’s a transformation, a commitment to excellence that reflects in every mile you drive.

Remember, every truck is different, and every driver has unique needs. Take the time to research, understand your truck’s requirements, and consult with professionals. By doing so, you’re not just fitting a new part into your truck but setting the stage for a journey filled with power, efficiency, and unmatched performance. Welcome to the new era of trucking.

Meeting Military Requirements Through Business Acumen, Margarita Howard of HX5 Has the Bases Covered

Sixth Wave Ventures makes first investments and promises more to come in 2024

Margarita Howard, the sole owner, president, and CEO of HX5, a company specializing in government contracting, stands out as a remarkable leader in a field historically dominated by men. Her journey, marked by perseverance, strategic insight, and an unwavering commitment to excellence, showcases how women are reshaping the government contracting landscape.

There are approximately 14 million women-owned businesses in the United States. A 2023 survey of small, women- and minority-owned companies regarding their participation and readiness to compete for federal contracts found that “75% of the women-owned businesses surveyed reported that corporate and government contracting is really critical to their business strategy,” stated Angela Dingle, the CEO of Women Impacting Public Policy, on the Federal Drive With Tom Teminpodcast. And so it’s not just a statistic. It’s a narrative about the contributions and the potential of women-owned businesses to generate growth, to create jobs, and to meet the needs of corporate and government buyers.”

A blend of ingenuity and integrity characterizes Howard’s approach to business.

“In the early years, a big part of my job was going and knocking on doors and meeting with the bankers and trying to get things like a line of credit, a small business loan, etcetera,” Margarita Howard explains. She was turned down the majority of the time but didn’t let that deter her from the mission to make HX5 a premier government contractor.

She remains loyal to the company’s earliest supporters. “One bank in particular remains our bank today because they gave us that first chance,” she says. And so, to this day, that’s our bank. And they thank us every single year for the relationship. And now that we’ve grown to the size we are today, new banks are knocking on our doors all the time trying to earn our business.”

Howard attributes part of her success to joining the Small Business Administration’s 8(a) program, a comprehensive nine-year initiative providing mentorship and support to entrepreneurs facing social and economic disadvantages. As a first-generation American, Howard met the criteria. With the 8(a) certification, she gained the eligibility to compete for and secure contracts worth millions of dollars. Howard says, “After becoming an 8(a) company, we were awarded very quickly four contracts in one year and that really helped in getting us off the ground.”

Margarita Howard: Transition to Government Contracting

Margarita Howard’s path to success has been a very challenging journey, but one that culminates in an inspiring story of an American dream come to life. Losing both parents to illness by the year she graduated from high school was a tremendous loss. However, with the knowledge of the value of an advanced education that was instilled in her by her parents, Howard pressed ahead and enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso, where she juggled school and the full-time work schedule necessary to support herself and go to school at the same time. In search of a way to expand her opportunities and advance her career horizon, she decided to join the military and soon settled on the Air Force.

Post-military, having attained both a bachelor’s and master’s degree, Howard quickly advanced through various roles of increasing management responsibility, primarily in the areas of operations and business management. A significant opportunity came with her involvement in implementing the Tricare program, a major initiative in managed health care for the military.

Tricare is a health care program serving active duty service members, their family members, National Guard and Reserve members and their families, retirees and their families, survivors, and specific former spouses globally.

In that role, Howard was part of the team responsible for implementing the program and through her work, she gained significant insight into the intersection of government operations and private-sector participation.

“I was exposed to many different aspects of government contracting in the role that I was performing in. Part of my job was working with various subcontractors. And so overall the experience was just very, very exciting,” Howard says. It was a huge role for a woman. “I was primarily working with all men at the time. There were women working on the program, but at the regional level, there were very few,” she recalls.

“Once that contract was completely transitioned, and it was up for rebid, I decided to go work for another government contract with the goal in mind of eventually starting my own business. I just felt that I had seen the government contracting process from the ground up and I was in a good place to begin planning and taking steps toward starting my own business.”

In working on government contracts she became aware of the opportunities and socioeconomic benefits available as a veteran- and woman-owned small business, particularly in working with smaller enterprises. “And having worked with large businesses, I knew that aspect of it. So, that’s when I decided to start HX5,” she says.

Recognizing the potential in government contracting and armed with a wealth of experience, Howard launched the company in 2004. Her vision was clear: to establish a company that excelled in winning contracts and thrived on its own merits without over-reliance on sole-source awards.

Margarita Howard’s decision to develop HX5 was a bold step, reflecting her confidence in her abilities and understanding of the government contracting sector. The name “HX5,” representing “Howard times five,” reflects her commitment to her family and their significant influence on her inspirational career path.

HX5’s journey from a fledgling startup to a thriving entity with over 1,000 employees is a testament to Howard’s leadership. Her astute foresight was evident in early choices, such as opting for investing in a government-approved accounting system over extravagant office furniture or high-priced lease locations (for example). That dedication to thriving, not merely surviving, in competitive settings enabled the company to secure numerous substantial prime contracts.

HX5’s Competitive Edge

From its inception, Howard’s company differentiated itself by not relying on sole-source awards — a common strategy among small government contractors — but instead, building a business infrastructure around being able to compete for and win contracts from very early on. Margarita Howard’s approach was to compete from the start, positioning the company for sustainable growth and long-term success. This plan was complemented by a focus on compliance, financial discipline, and building the right relationships.

“Building strong relationships with government agencies is an invaluable asset for successful government contractors as it can serve to provide the contractor with positive performance appraisals and sometimes even lead to new or additional business,” she says. “You start building [on] your past performance, which those initial contracts we received provided the foundation for.”

Cheltenham Unveiled: Identifying the Dark Horses Poised for Triumph This Year

Betting Tips For Cheltenham: Who Are The Dark Horses This Year?

There are few more popular betting events on the sporting calendar than the Cheltenham Festival.

If Kentucky Derby betting is the biggest waging event in horse racing in the USA, Cheltenham Festival is likely to be its equivalent in England, followed by the Grand National. Every March, hundreds of thousands of fans descend on the Cotswolds to witness the biggest stars in jumps racing collide for the most illustrious honours.

That will be no different this year, as the championship races will once again see superstars such as Constitution Hill, Galopin Des Champs, and El Fabiolo look to extend their legacy.

But, there is typically a lot of value in the betting when it comes to betting on the races at the Festival, so who could be the dark horse contenders that look primed to out run their odds?

You Wear It Well

The G1 Mares’ Hurdle was one of the biggest talking points at the Festival last year, with many experts hoping that Honeysuckle would bypass the race in order to take on Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle. However, it is an interesting betting race in its own right, and there could be value with siding against last year’s Triumph winner Lossiemouth.

You Wear It Well could easily be one of the best backed horses of the day at Cheltenham on the Tuesday, as the Jamie Snowden runner has plenty of form at Cheltenham. The seven-year-old was excellent when landing the G2 Mares’ Novice Hurdle at the Festival last year, beating Magical Zoe by over two lengths. She ended the season by going up against the boys, and finished a respectable fifth in the G1 Mersey Novices’ Hurdle at Aintree.

She has continued her progression this term after finishing three lengths clear of subsequent winner Luccia at Wetherby, before battling in testing conditions at Sandown to finish third in the G1 Fighting Fifth. You Wear It Well is unlikely to go off in the Mares’ Hurdle as a 20/1 chance.

Fil Dor

Two-time winner of the G1 Ryanair Chase Allaho will be missing the Festival for the second year running in 2024, and his absence has opened up the betting for the Grade 1 at Cheltenham this year. Banbridge is an incredibly talented contender, but the Joseph O’Brien raider will likely need good ground to mount his best challenge.

Appreciate It and Envoi Allen both deserve respect, but Gordon Elliott could boast the best angle for bettors at this stage. The six-year-old has won just once in five starts over the bigger obstacles, but he will likely relish the stamina sapping test in the Ryanair at Cheltenham.

His performances this term have been much improved, finishing a close second behind Dinoblue on his reappearance in November, before finishing a respectable four lengths behind red-hot Champion Chase favourite El Fabiolo in the G2 Hilly Way Chase. Elliott is enjoying an excellent campaign this term, and a win for Fil Dor at the Festival would be a welcome sight for owners Caldwell Construction Ltd, who have already had a heart-breaking year following the loss of Mighty Potter.

Noble Yeats

The G1 Stayers’ Hurdle is always one of the most interesting betting races at the Cheltenham Festival, as there is no standout star in the division. The betting has opened up following the announcement that Theleme won’t be making the journey from France, and Irish Point could easily be the most progressive rival in the field. Legends of the game such as Monkfish and Paisley Park are set to compete, but both could be vulnerable.

Emmet Mullins has already revealed that the nine-year-old will line up in the Stayers’ Hurdle this year, and the runner will have a first attempt over the longer distance over hurdles when he lines up in the G2 Cleeve Hurdle on Trials Day. Noble Yeats certainly adds a very interesting betting angle to this race, as he is thorough stayer at the highest level.

He landed a famous win in the Grand National in 2022, before finishing fourth in the race off a big weight last year. He also showed his class at Cheltenham last year when staying on better than most to finish fourth in the prestigious G1 Gold Cup. If at that level back over hurdles, he looks an incredible betting chance in the Stayers’ Hurdle this year.

Nassalam

The big race of the entire week comes in the form of the prestigious G1 Cheltenham Gold Cup. Galopin Des Champs is the heavy favourite to successfully defend the honour that he won last year, and he returned back to winning ways in staggering fashion when landing the G1 Savills Chase over Christmas. King George winner Hewick could be set for a renewed bid, but a chance could be taken on Nassalam at a massive price.

It is worth mentioning that the seven-year-old will need his ideal conditions to stand any chance at Cheltenham, but he has looked very dominant on heavy ground throughout this season.

He was one of the most dominant winners in the history of the G1 Welsh National earlier this season, beating Iron Bridge by a staggering 37 lengths. While he isn’t the most obvious Gold Cup player, he would be incredibly over priced for trainer Gary Moore if the ground turns heavy at Cheltenham.
