With Material Intelligence as its guiding framework, VitrA Tiles put The Code concept and a range of innovations before industry professionals at Cersaie 2026.

Bologna, Italy: VitrA Tiles was among the exhibitors at Cersaie 2026, the international ceramic tile and bathroom furnishing exhibition, staged in Bologna, Italy between 21 and 25 September, where it received architects, designers, clients and professionals from the wider industry. The company built its stand around Material Intelligence as a concept, presenting 2027 collections and new developments.

“Every material has a code. Material Intelligence deciphers it.” That principle underpins how VitrA Tiles approaches design, reworking materials that occur in nature by pairing research and design expertise with advanced technology. Capitalising on nature’s technical and aesthetic potential, the company converts these materials into original surfaces that give contemporary architecture fresh inspiration.

Design Expressed in Three Languages

The Code concept is built on three design languages, which translate into the Resincode, Geocode and Metacode collections, on display for Cersaie visitors at the VitrA Tiles booth.

Resincode takes inspiration from natural concrete, drawing on its porous, mineral-rich texture, layered surface effects and natural transitions, and gives modern interiors a pared-back, balanced and refined surface character. Geocode is based on Spanish marble, limestone, gneiss and quartzite, reinterpreting the varied geological heritage of natural stone for ceramic surfaces in a contemporary way, and is offered in four surface typologies: Alba, Imperio, Merano and Rio. Metacode features three distinct surfaces in copper, iron and gold tones, translating the soft reflections and subtle tonal transitions of a patinated metal finish to ceramic, and pairs industrial character with refined aesthetics.

Technology Launches

In addition to the new ranges, VitrA Tiles took the opportunity at Cersaie 2026 to introduce two innovations, V-Flex and V-Tone.

Built on Välinge’s Ceraloc® locking technology, V-Flex offers tile installation without any adhesive. Purpose-made side profiles let the tiles lock together mechanically, offering installation that can be as much as five times faster than conventional bonded tiling. It delivers precise alignment, consistent grout lines and a clean finish of professional quality. Should the need arise, individual tiles can be lifted out and swapped, a notable advantage that streamlines maintenance and repair work. Acoustic comfort is a further benefit. Recommended applications for V-Flex include retail shops, store chains, offices, showrooms, hotels, educational buildings and commercial spaces.

V-Tone addresses the tonal variation found in ceramic manufacturing, keeping colours consistent and designs intact across different surfaces. VitrA Tiles is still in the process of integrating V-Tone technology into its production lines.
