TerraPay has announced the launch of Xend, a pioneering Payments Interoperability Network designed to bring together previously disconnected wallets, banks and card systems into a seamless global ecosystem. Revealed in Dubai, the platform aims to support billions of wallet users by enabling frictionless cross-border transactions.

Positioned as a universal infrastructure layer, Xend allows wallet holders to interact with 11,500 banks via the Swift network and make payments at 150 million acceptance points worldwide, all through their existing wallet applications. TerraPay’s partnership with inclusion-driven organisations such as Swift strengthens Xend’s mission to deliver end-to-end global interoperability, giving wallet users the ability to receive funds from any bank and transact with an extensive network of merchants.

Already operational, Xend connects more than 200 million wallet users through leading global providers, demonstrating its capability to scale to TerraPay’s broader ecosystem of 3.7 billion wallet endpoints. The network offers real-time access to global banks, merchants and other wallets, providing a unified digital financial experience.

The Dubai launch brought together leaders from payments, mobile money and digital wallets, marking a significant advance in financial infrastructure. Xend becomes the first platform to offer universal interoperability for payments, enabling wallets to integrate not only with each other but also with the formal financial system on a global level.

“In mobile networks, roaming transformed how people connected, it made communication borderless. With Xend, we’re bringing that same freedom to money movement,” said Ambar Sur, Founder & CEO, TerraPay. “We want every wallet to roam globally, just like mobile phones do, to pay, receive, and spend anywhere, without friction or boundaries. By partnering with Swift, we’re building a truly open and interoperable financial fabric that connects the digital economy to the formal financial system – at scale.”

“Swift has long championed interoperability as a cornerstone of global financial connectivity,” said Juan Martinez, Global Head of Payments Services, Swift. “Working with TerraPay aligns with our mission to enable instant, secure, and inclusive cross-border transactions, bringing the power of the Swift network to millions of wallet users worldwide.”

Xend delivers worldwide functionality by enabling wallet users to receive funds from any bank, pay at online and in-store merchants globally, and transfer money to other wallets across borders. This capability elevates domestic wallets and super-apps into internationally connected financial tools without the need for new infrastructure or bilateral connections.

Through this collaboration, wallet providers on the Xend network can give users instant, compliant and interoperable payment options across banks, cards and wallets, effectively linking traditional financial services with the digital economy.
