AKA Foods Ltd. has completed a 17.2 million dollar seed funding round, led by distinguished AI specialists and entrepreneurs Alex and Michael Bronstein. The investment enables the formal launch of AKA Studio, a secure AI-driven platform designed to help food manufacturers develop, refine and bring products to market more rapidly, intelligently and cost-effectively.
AKA Studio is engineered to reshape the research, formulation and development process by unifying a company’s internal knowledge and ongoing R&D into a structured base. This foundation integrates experimental and analytical assessments — including texture, aroma and taste — generated by dedicated sensory research facilities, before leveraging AI assistants to support formulation and optimisation.
For R&D teams, this approach compresses the traditional innovation cycle from years to weeks by drawing together historic and current research data, ingredient specifications, sensory evaluations and regulatory information into a single, intelligent system. For senior leadership, it converts organisational expertise into measurable innovation assets, strengthening both productivity and profitability. For investors, it offers a defensible, category-defining technology at the junction of AI and food science, enhanced by rigorous sensory validation.
While formulation remains an expert, hands-on discipline, AKA Studio accelerates the process and enhances decision-making. By connecting structured digital data with verified sensory insights, the platform supports scientific optimisation and helps companies deliver healthier, more sustainable products with improved accuracy and safety. It also assists reformulation for clean labels, reduced sugar and fat profiles, and more robust supply chains.
Security sits at the core of the platform’s architecture. Delivered as a secure SaaS solution operated by AKA Foods, AKA Studio provides private data environments for each client. For organisations with more stringent requirements, it can be deployed on-premise and air-gapped, maintaining the same high protection standards. Client data is never shared or used for model training, and ownership of proprietary information always remains with the client.
Professor Alex Bronstein*, Chief Scientist at AKA Foods, Head of the Center for Intelligent Systems at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and a Professor at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria, said:
“AKA Foods is essentially bringing to market a new type of a grammar; a language for food, creating AI agents that are capable of connecting to different external data sources and then making recommendations on how to improve the recipe. This is something that a generic AI model like ChatGPT will never be able to achieve.”
David Sack, Founder & CEO of AKA Foods, added:
“The global food industry holds enormous amounts of valuable knowledge but struggles to use it effectively. AKA Studio gives companies the ability to capture, organise and apply that knowledge securely. This investment allows us to expand deployment to enterprise clients worldwide and continue advancing the science behind how food is created.”
Underlying the platform is a sensory-AI framework with potential applications beyond food, including flavour, fragrance, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals — sectors where sensory assessment and precise formulation are equally vital.
AKA Studio sets a new benchmark for secure, data-driven food innovation, offering researchers, executives and investors a shared route to meaningful progress in both scientific and commercial outcomes.
